eLene is a group of 9 higher education institutions active in eLearning and technology-enhanced learning which grew out of a series of case studies carried out for the European Commission in 2003 and which successfully ran three eLearning programme projects: eLene-TT, eLene-EE and eLene-TLC. Now a community of practice, the eLene members continue to share their knowledge and expertise within and beyond the group.

Kauno Kolegija / Kaunas University of Applied Sciences (http://www.kauko.lt/college.php?id=1)

It is a state - owned institution providing higher education in the areas of technologies, social sciences, biomedicine, humanities and arts. It is one of the biggest institutions of higher education not only in Lithuania, but in the whole Baltic Region.
Kauno Kolegija actively contributes to implementing the state regional development policy -study programmes are realised not only in Kaunas but also in Kedainiai, Druskininkai and Taurage. All together it offers over 40 study programmes. More than 8500 students are currently studying and approximately 600 teachers are currently working here.
Success of Kauno kolegija is based on the partnership among students, teachers and employers in the process of training specialists who acquire higher education and practical skills within shorter period, usually of three years. Close cooperation between Kauno kolegija and employers has positive influence on student employment in enterprises and other institutions.
International cooperation is one of Kauno kolegija priority areas. Participation in international networks and programmes ensures active implementation of provisions of Bologna Process in academic and other activities. International cooperation aims for improving the quality of studies, applied research and ensures the compliance of Kauno kolegija graduates skills with continuously changing needs of international labour market.
The Kauno kolegija community cooperates with other education and research institutions, organisations and associated business structures. This cooperation is carried according to the aims of the study process, needs of international labour market and the strategy of regional development.
Students’ opinion is highly respected here - representatives delegated by students actively participate in the activities of institutional self - government.

NDMA: National Association of Distance Education (http://www.ndma.lt/index.php?page=about-ndma)

National Association of Distance Education (NADE) was established in July 1998. It was established with a purpose to promote the creation of the Information Society of Lithuania by developing distance education (DE) and improving its quality. The major purpose of NADE is to provide equal learning opportunities to all Lithuanian citizens, despite their place of living.There are a lot of opportunities for activity in Lithuania, and they are still growing, but it is possible to use them only with the help of common efforts of universities and certain governmental institutions, but here we need our active communication and participation in creative process of DE.
Main activities:
* collects and disseminates information about distance education events, projects and methods in order to ensure distance education efficiency;
* explores regional supply and demand for studies and courses in the field of prequalification, vocational education, postsecondary and higher education;
* collaborates with public information providers and disseminators, other institutions and enterprises, persons concerned;
* organizes distance education courses, carries out efficiency research and other applied distance education research in regional study and study support canters, other institutions;
* organizes workshops, seminars, conferences for distance education tutors and organizers;
* takes care of the preparation, adaptation and improvement of distance education programs;
* disseminates information about distance education development in the world, Europe, Lithuania;
* carries out research in the field of distance education organization, management and academic affairs;
* informs University, Lithuanian Distance Education Study Centre and other partners about significant distance education events;
* takes part in the development and management of the videoconferencing network.
